21st Century 3D is pleased to announce the completion of our first stereoscopic feature film, Call of the Wild 3D, produced by Check Entertainment and directed by Richard Gabai. The 86 minute live action family adventure stars Christopher Lloyd and Ariel Gade. Ariel plays 10 year old Ryan, visiting her grandfather on her winter vacation in the unspoiled big sky country of Montana. Shot entirely on location, this film captures the natural beauty of America's "last best place". A city girl, young Ryan is initially disenchanted with the slow paced, small town lifestyle of Lincoln Montana. When she nurses an injured wolf/dog back to health and befriends a young dog sled musher, Jack, played by Kameron Knox, her adventure begins to unfold. Her new canine friend Buck quickly takes to the dog sled and becomes Jack's new lead dog. With Buck at the head of the pack, Ryan and Jack may have the finest dog sled team in the entire valley!
Shot on location in Lincoln and Phillipsburg Montana, this film marks a major milestone in the history of live action stereoscopic production. Call of the Wild 3D is the first live action family adventure to be shot in digital 3D. The compact size and outstanding image quality of 21st Century 3D's exclusive stereoscopic camera technology puts audiences squarely inside the adventure, taking them on the dog sled ride of their lives. Never before has a 3D camera system been so mobile. Surviving the harsh winter conditions of Montana in February is no small feat and the authenticity and wintery excitement can be seen in every shot. The ensemble cast also includes Wes Studi, Aimee Teegarden, Devon Graye, Timothy Bottoms, Veronica Cartwright, Joyce DeWitt, Jaleel White and Christopher Dempsey.
The film marks director Richard Gabai's first foray into stereoscopic live action production. 21st Century 3D's founder and CEO Jason Goodman takes the role of stereographer. "Over the past 14 years, we've developed numerous techniques that we've used in our commercial and industrial 3D productions" says Goodman. "These proved invaluable in creating Call of the Wild 3D. These ground breaking techniques allowed Call of the Wild to be completed in record time and on budget. Principal photography began in February 2008 and post production was completed by 21st Century 3D in October, just less than 10 months.
Call of the Wild 3D will hold it's exclusive world premiere at the 3DX Film Festival in Singapore on Friday November 21, 2008. Look for it in theaters soon.
